Dry Blending Machine Operator
Position Title: Blender (Mixing Machine Operator) Date: June 21, 2023
Reports To: Shift Foreman FLSA: Non-Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY
Set up, operate, and tend to machine to blend/mix chemicals that make the compound for the final product.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensure accuracy of weights and measurements of chemical ingredients (resin, oils, and powders) to conform to requirements.
- Process ingredients according to formulas.
- Dump or pour specified amounts of chemical ingredients into machinery or equipment.
- Mix or blend ingredients by starting machines and mixing for specified time.
- Heat the mixture to 240 degrees, drop the mixture into large cylinder (chiller) where the compound continues to mix until cooled to 140 degrees.
- Transfer cooled compound into large drums (Two drums equal one batch. Fill 70-80 drums that equal 35-40 batches per shift).
- Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school diploma required, GED or equivalent preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience required; manufacturing experience in a similar production environment preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain focus.
- Knowledge of weights and measurements.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs
- Ability to continuously walk up and down stairs after each batch (70+ times per shift)
- Adheres to safety standards and wears personal protection equipment (safety glasses required, mask and gloves optional)
- Factory environment, indoors, climate controlled and ventilated
- Noise level is usually load
- Exposure to dust and vibration
- Frequently exposed to manufacturing chemicals
- Exposure to machinery and mechanical moving parts
