Extruder Operator

Reports To: Assistant Foreman                                                         FLSA: Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining proper operation of extruders in the basement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Monitor temperatures, coolant levels, oil levels, speeds, and amperage of the extruders.
• Perform screen changes and send up the bubble.
• Assist in the performance of cleaning the die assembly.
• Change rotator gaskets and bearings.
• Be observant of unusual sounds and/or vibrations from the extruders.
• General maintenance of the extruders.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

• Maintain empty amacoil stations.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
• Knowledge of weights and measurements.
• Knowledge of production processes and quality control.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift heavy objects, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, stairs, bend, and reach
• Adheres to safety standards and wears personal protective equipment (safely glasses required, mask and gloves optional)
• Works in a factory environment, indoors, climate controlled, and ventilated
• Noise level is usually loud
• Exposure to dust and vibration
• Frequently exposed to manufacturing chemicals
• Exposure to machinery and mechanical moving parts
