Quality Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Quality Manager in our manufacturing plant will focus on ensuring overall quality at the site as well as providing day-to-day oversight of the quality lab. In this position, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the QC laboratory ensuring full compliance with corporate Standards and SOPs, sampling protocols, test methods, and specifications including equipment calibration requirements.
- Develop a group of Quality Control Inspectors for each shift.
- Ensure technicians and operators are effectively trained providing a quality training plan for the plant.
- Ensure that product testing and release decisions are made in a timely fashion.
- Support manufacturing efficiency goals (without compromising quality) by participating in process improvements.
- Quality system and process auditing to ensure SOP compliance and corrective actions implementation when necessary.
- Observe and document any areas of waste, create a plan and timeline for proposed improvements.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for non-conforming batches and recalls, focusing on the identification and implementation of effective countermeasures.
- Manage the outcome of supplier non-conformance investigations.
- Lead site quality improvement initiatives for reduction in batch adjustments (first run capability), recall elimination, and rework scrap reduction
- Perform trend analysis on statistical process control (SPC) data to improve right the first-time batch capability, empowering operators wherever possible.
- Identifying and implementing countermeasures to prevent recalls and rejected batches.
- Plans and executes internal plant audits.
- Ensure the quality manual and SOP is detailed.
- Prepare and report on important monthly Quality KPI’s and annual Quality plans.
- Act as a liaison with Product Development and other corporate stakeholders to scale-up new and modified formulas in the plant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ degree in science, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related fields
- 5+ years’ experience working in a QC lab, QA function or R&D laboratory environment.
- 2+ years’ experience supervising personnel
- Six Sigma Certified preferred.
- Must have a strong background in quality training, quality systems, quality audits, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and statistical tools.
- Experience leading internal and external audits.
- Excellent leadership, management and interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis, and data presentation and the ability to examine data and draw accurate, meaningful conclusions that can be turned into preventive or corrective action plans.
- Ability to identify team strengths and opportunities, develop team and organizational goals, coach development.
- Ability to lead by example.
- Hold self and others accountable for project deliverables and commitments.
- Team oriented and willingness to work cross-functionally within the manufacturing team.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Minitab or comparable statistical software programs or tools
